Whimsical, graceful, and wonderfully mid-century, this 1950s sterling silver vermeil flower brooch has the airy elegance of a miniature floral arrangement. Slender golden stems rise into fanciful blossoms sparkling with vivid emerald-green rhinestones, while a sculptural bow gathers the bouquet at its base. A playful curled tendril completes the design.
The construction is particularly appealing: rather than a flat floral pin, the flowers, stems, bow, and rhinestone settings are built at different levels, creating a delicate three-dimensional silhouette. The warm gold vermeil over sterling gives the piece richness, while the brilliant green stones provide an irresistible jewel-toned accent.

There is a delightful 1950s cocktail-hour femininity to this piece. The long, narrow profile makes it especially flattering on a lapel, while the emerald-green rhinestones give just enough sparkle for an evening dress, holiday ensemble, or special occasion. It would also be charming incorporated into a vintage-inspired bridal look as a colorful “something old.”
For collectors, the sterling construction makes this more desirable than an ordinary gold-tone costume brooch, while the original vermeil surface gives it the warm appearance of gold. The floral abstraction and exuberant curled stem also give the piece a wonderfully artistic, almost whimsical character.
